Oklo Teams Up With NVIDIA and Los Alamos to Build Nuclear-Powered AI Data Centers

AI's hunger for electricity is becoming its biggest bottleneck — and nuclear energy might be the answer.

Oklo, a US-based nuclear startup, has announced a partnership with NVIDIA and Los Alamos National Laboratory to develop small modular reactors (SMRs) purpose-built for powering AI data centers.

The collaboration brings together three distinct strengths: Oklo's compact reactor design, NVIDIA's AI simulation capabilities, and Los Alamos's decades of nuclear research expertise dating back to the Manhattan Project.

Why this matters:

Los Alamos will leverage AI-driven simulations to accelerate reactor design and safety validation, potentially cutting development timelines significantly. Meanwhile, NVIDIA gains a pathway to ensure its GPU customers actually have enough power to run them.

The partnership signals a broader industry shift: the AI race is no longer just about who builds the smartest model — it's about who secures the energy to run it. With tech giants like Microsoft, Google, and Amazon all pursuing nuclear deals, Oklo's three-way alliance positions it as a serious contender in the emerging nuclear-AI nexus.

The age of AI infrastructure is becoming the age of energy infrastructure.
